Five Ways to Help Our UWP Alumni Families in Need

We're nine months into the COVID-19 pandemic; we've seen raging fires devastate the towns and cities in the U.S. West, several high-velocity storms make landfall in Asia and Central America, and devastating earthquakes hit Turkey and Greece. Many of you have asked what you can do to help.

Here are 5 ways you can help our alumni families in need:

1. Check-in on your cast mates and tell other alumni about Reach Out

Please check-in with your castmates and alumni friends and make sure they are ok. Some of these areas and families have been hit hard. Be sure to tell them Reach Out is here if they need support. Also, be ready to help if we put out an alumni call for assistance.

2. Join our Reach Out Care Network

Whether it is providing hot meal, a conversation, or a ride to a medical appointment, our worldwide local Care Network alumni have signed up to be available and ready if we get any alumni in need in their area.

Local alumni are matched up with alumni in need in several ways. One match is through geographical location, and how close you are to the alumni in need. Another match may be by your specialty, if you a life coach, nurse, healthcare or disability specialist. We are always looking for more alumni in the helping professions.

3. Give to help our alumni families in need

Help UWP alumni in need by making a donation today to our giving fund so we can assist more alumni in 2021!  All amounts are tax-deductible and every little bit helps! Thank you in advance for your supporting our alumni!

4. Join our Reach Out Facebook Group

One of the fastest ways to hear about our alumni in need is to follow the Reach Out Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/groups/ReachOutROAAN. Currently 6% of all alumni are part of this page. If youare already a member, help us grow our Facebook Page by inviting your castmates and alumni friends to join the Reach Out Face Book Page.

Did you know that Reach Out gives both financial and non-financial aid to alumni in need? In fact, connecting alumni with relevant 3rd party services is a growing part of how we assist our alumni family.  These tailor-made resource lists are a truly valuable asset to the applicant to maximize the available assistance.

5. Use our Reach Out Amazon Smile link for your online purchases

Use our link, www.roaan.org/amazonsmile.htm, when making your Amazon purchases and AmazonSmile will donate a portion of your purchases to Reach Out Alumni Assistance Network to help our alumni in need.

If you know any alumni who needs assistance, please have them download and fill out an application for assistance here.

Did you know that Reach Out keeps all applications in strictest confidence.  Your privacy is important to us.  When alumni in need apply to Reach Out, they tell us with whom (if anyone) they give us permission to discuss their circumstances, and which pieces of information we have permission to disclose.  Many of our alumni are very prideful and don’t want ot let anyone know about their circumstances.  By keeping your name and situation confidential, we are able to help a lot more alumni who wouldn’t have come to us otherwise.
